Abstract
Purpose:A Fitz-Hugh-Curtis syndrome is characterized by inflammation is perihepatic capsules with concomitant pelvic inflammation. The purpose of this study was to assess clinical and laboratory menifestations as well as the therapeutic response in patients with diagnosed Fits-Hugh-Curtis syndrome.

Materials and Methods :A retrospective study was performed on the records of 7 patients who were diagnosed with perihepatitis as diagnosed by dynamic abdominal computed tomography(CT), visiting the Chungbuk National University Hospital for 2 years. Dynamic abdominal CT revealed subcapsular enhancement of the liver in the arteral phase.

Results:The mean age of the patients was 25 years, and all of them were sexually active and presented with right upper quadrant pain. On laboratory examination, WBC and CRP were increased. Direct specimen smears and cultures were non specific. All of the patients improved with antibiotic therapy.

Conclusion:Because symptoms and physical findings suggestive of PID are not simultaneously present in many patients with perihepatitis, it is difficult to diagnosis of Fitz-Hugh-Curtis syndrome. If sexually active women ages 15 to 35 visit a hospital because of pain in the right upper abdomen, without the evidence of other medical disease, Fitz-Hugh-Curtis syndrome should be considered. For patients suspected to have Fitz-Hugh-Curtis syndrome, as dynamic abdominal CT scan, a cerivcal smear culture test applied PCR and blood chemistry tests may be helpful since it provides a more rapid and accurate diagnosis and treatment.
